Casa Villavicencio is a Registered Property, Province of Batangas located at Taal, Batangas, Region IV-A.
Villavicencio Houses in Taal, Batangas were owned by Eulalio Villavicencio and his wife Gliceria Marella. The first house was built in the 1850’s and the second one was built as a wedding gift to Gliceria, and was constructed during the 1870’s.
Eulalio and Gliceria Villavicencio were noted Taaleños who engaged in the Philippine revolutionary cause against the Spanish regime. Both husband and wife contributed moral and material support to the Filipino revolutionaries.
The Villavicencio houses run true to form to what the “bahay-na-bato” was like during the Spanish period. The houses manifest marked developments in the evolution of the Philippine architecture during the Spanish period. The 1850’s house exemplifies the Geometric style of architecture, which lasted up to the middle of the nineteenth century. The house shows Geometric characteristics as seen in its discreet basic forms, self-containment and overall simplicity.
