Cabanatuan American Memorial | Memorare (Pangatian Concentration Camp)

Cabanatuan American Memorial | Memorare (Pangatian Concentration Camp) is a Registered Property, Province of Nueva Ecija located at Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, Region III.

At the height of World War II, the Novo Ecijanos again joined forces to regain the sovereignty of the Filipinos from the Japanese forces. On January 30, 1945, Capt. Eduardo L. Joson and Capt. Juan Pajota with their respective guerilla units, collaborated with the US 6th Ranger Battalion and the Alamo Scouts to rescue the remaining 516 survivors of the infamous Bataan Death March who were incarcerated at the Pangatian Concentration Camp in Cabanatuan City. This historic event is considered today as the most successful rescue operation of its type in the annals of US military history.

ON THE NIGHT OF JANUARY 30, 1945, FILIPINO GUERRILAS UNDER CAPTAINS JUAN PAJOTA AND EDUARDO JOSON EFFECTIVELY PREVENTED JAPANESE REINFORCEMENTS AT PANGATIAN CONCENTRATION CAMP IN CABANATUAN. THE BATTLE OF CABU BRIDGE AND THE BLOCKADE AT BANGAD RESULTED IN THE LIBERATION OF 516 ALLIED PRISONERS OF WAR. THE JOINT OPERATION OF THE GUERRILAS. ALAMO BATTALION WAS UNDER LT. COL. HENRY MUCCI. THIS EVENT IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE SUCCESSFUL RESCUE MISSIONS OF ITS TYPE IN THE ANNALS OF U.S. MILITARY HISTORY.
