RESOLUTION NO. 1, S. 1995
DECLARING THE RAMON MAGSAYSAY HOUSE IN BARRIO SANTA MARIA, CASTILLEJOS, ZAMBALES AS A NATIONAL HISTORICAL LANDMARK
WHEREAS, the 1987 Constitution of the Philippines states that “The state shall conserve, promote, and popularize the nation’s historical and cultural heritage and resources…;”
WHEREAS, Presidential Decree No. 260, dated August 1, 1973 specifically vested the National Historical Institute, a cultural agency attached under the Department of Education, Culture and Sports, and an institution affiliated with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the power to declare the historical and cultural sites and edifices as National Shrines, Monuments, and/or Landmarks;
WHEREAS, in 1914 the family of President Ramon Magsaysay moved to Castillejos where Ramon and the other Magsaysay children spent their childhood years and had their elementary education;
WHEREAS, the Magsaysay house in Castillejos, Zambales was restored by the descendants of President Magsaysay in 1990, but the June 1991 eruption of Mt. Pinatubo left it heavily damaged;
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to honor Ramon Magsaysay, through the restoration and preservation of this house in Castillejos;
NOW, THEREFORE, the National Historical Institute, by virtue of powers vested in it by Presidential Decree No. 260, dated August 1, 1973, as amended by Presidential Decree No. 1505, dated June 11, 1978, hereby declares the Ramon Magsaysay House in Barrio Santa Maria, Castillejos, Zambales as a National Historical Landmark.

Tahanan ng mga Magsaysay
Sa bahay na ito ginugol ni Ramon Magsaysay, ikapitong Pangulo ng Republika ng Pilipinas at kilala sa taguring “The Guy,” ang mabungang taon ng kanyang buhay. Ipinamana niya ang mga katangian ng masikap na paggawa, pananagutang sibiko para sa pangkaraniwang tao at makabayang gawain para sa bayan at mga mamamayan.
Muling ipinagawa ng mga inapo ng Pangulong Magsaysay, 1990. Napinsala nang malaki nang pumutok ang Bundok Pinatubo, Hunyo 1991, muling isinaayos ng Pambansang Suriang Pangkasaysayan, 1999.
