Old Samar Justice Building is a Registered Property, City of Catbalogan, Samar located at Catbalogan City, Catbalogan City, Region VIII.
Situated at Curry Avenue, the two-story building was previously used as a courthouse but is now used as the Provincial Library at the second floor while the ground floor houses the Provincial Commission on Election Office and the City Prosecutor’s Office. Built during the 1930s, a copy of the built plan from the Department of Public Works and Highways Central Office, the said building was designed by an unknown architect but the actual design was inspired by the Maranao house called Torogan. One of the prominent features of the house is the panolong that is similar to a butterfly’s wings that is chiseled to form geometric motif called okir design or patterns and serves as a beam that connected to the end of the floor.
