Parish Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria of Gattaran

Parish Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria of Gattaran is a Registered Property, Province of Cagayan located at Gattaran, Cagayan, Region II.

The Gattaran Catholic Church, now known as St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish Church is one of the biggest Churches in the town found in barangay Centro Sur. Observing outside the church, it has extensive grounds where the plants and trees (Buatsina) surrounded. Notice also the newly painted bricks. At the middle, the monument of Apostleship of Prayers placed facing in front of the entrance main double door of the church. Inside it, observe the new modern church, the new constructed Retablo, and the ceiling. Only the bricks at the back and the side of the convent of the church remain intact for preservation purpose.
The St. Catherine Church stands as a historical monument of the Spanish rule. It was ruined from the last global war and was repaired and reconstructed. It was originally constructed through the efforts ofFriar Nolasco de Medio and Friar Domingo Campo, both Dominicans and improved by Friar Santiago Capdevilla, O.P., who initiated the construction of a brick stairway, west of the church, leading to the bank of the Cagayan River. The Stairway serves as a landing for disembarking friars and other Spanish travellers. The last Friar who served in the church was Friar Braulio Prieto, O.P.
