Economically – The whole structure of the tree can be turned into something important. The woods can be turned into furniture which can be sold in the market, thus providing an economic value to the owner of the tree. However the IUCN restricted the body to cut Katmon Trees because it is vulnerable but the other parts of the tree has economic value as well. The fruit jam from the fruit of the Katmon tree can also be sold.
Scientific – According to the research Anti- hyperglycemic Effects of Dillenia philippinensis Rolfe, the Katmon tree has anti- hyperglycemic particles (antiglycemia is the condition wherein glucose in highly present in the blood thus leading to diabetes) which can cure diabetes and can lower the sugar levels of a person.
– The Katmon tree has also photochemical constituents (Betulinic Acid) which is antiretroviral, antimalarial and anti- inflammatory properties.
Historical – The Katmon tree is a native in the Philippines and is endemic to the Babuyan Islands and Sulu anchipelago. It is one of the trees that is not known by many but it has many benefits to the body.
