Ar-aro Cave

Ar-aro Cave is a Registered Property, Province of Cagayan located at Gattaran, Cagayan, Region II.

The Ar-aro Cave is one of the prestigious caves in Barangay Naddungan, which is more or less Ten (10) kilometers away from Poblacion. It is bounded in the north by barangay Nabaccayan, in the east by barangay Cumao, in the south by the town of Buguey, and in the west is barangay Barbarit.
Arrive at Barangay Naddungan where the Ar-aro cave located approximately forty five (45) Minutes Travel from Poblacion depending on the type of vehicle used. Along the way, you can pass by different variety of big trees. The Cave was surrounded by trees, plants and Flora. “Tigi” and “Rafflexia” is seen in the side of cave. The cave is located in a hollow place in the ground particularly a natural space, enough for the human to enter. The cave form naturally by the weathering of rocks. Enjoyment obtained on a trip underground, catch sight of some species including bats and the attractive features formation of limestone on routes. Observed also the stalactites with shape formations and it produces minerals from water dripping through the cave ceiling. Most stalactites have pointed tips. Based on the information and data gathered, Long time ago, the water in the cave was extremely flowing. Until one day, Barangay folks discovered that there was a small fishes in the cave and that fish was called “Ar-aro” in the dialect proper. Until then they called the cave as “Ar-aro Cave”.
