A komedya/Moro-Moro is performed each year in Barangay Mabuttal, Ballesteros, Cagayan. Held simultaneously with the feast day in honor of their patron saint “Nuestra Señora de Manaoag,” the folks after consider the performance as a kind of religious ritual despite significant changes in the society. Folks believe that the Komedya is the “ay-ayam” (toy) of “Apu Baket” or Apu Manaoag,” who is believed to be miraculous. Performers join the staging of the theater play each year because they believe that the patron saint will shower them with blessings.
