De Maiztegui Ancestral House

De Maiztegui Ancestral House is a Registered Property, Province of Cagayan located at Enrile, Cagayan, Region II.

The ancestral house was originally owned by Don Loreto de Maiztegui, a Spanish mestizo who married a Filipina. He has 9 children and Robert de Maiztegui being the oldest inherited the house. The house was erected during the American period. Japanese soldiers helped during the construction of the house because the owner was the administrator of the TABACALERA, a tobacco warehouse located just in front it. The house also served as a secret meeting place of the Japanese and American soldiers when World War II broke out sometime in 1944-1945.
The structure is still in good condition and served as resident to the family of Robert De Maiztegui.
It had been said that a Japanese flag is raised when Japanese soldiers are coming, then change it to American flag if American soldiers are coming. They did this to play safe because during those times there was war between the two countries (World War II). The house had also been used as venue for film making. Students from different colleges and universities come and use it as subject of their research.
