Saint Paul School of Aparri

Saint Paul School of Aparri is a Registered Property, Municipality of Aparri, Cagayan located at Aparri, Cagayan, Region II.

St. Paul School of Aparri originally the Sacred Heart of Mary's Institution (SHOMI) was founded as a sister-institution of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Institution (SHOJI) now St. Paul University in Tuguegarao, Cagayan in response to the appeal of prominent families of the locality desiring Catholic education for children. Four sisters of St. Paul Chartres responded to the call. The interpid pioneers: Sister Agnes de Sainte-Anne Couplan (better known as Madre Ines), the Superior, the Sister Micaela Josefa Patero, Sister Cecilia due Sacre-Coeur Valencia, and Sister Valentine, were formally received by the parish priest of Aparri, Father Isaac Alonzo, in November 1923 and housed in the old convent. With the support and encouragement of the townspeople, the Pablo and Valenzuela families among them, the new primary school opened in the old Spanish convent on May 31, 1924. The old-dark room used by the early Spanish priests as bodegas became classrooms soon filled with lively children whose happy voices reverberated in the corridors and the spacious playground. In October of the same year, the school's incorporation were approved.
