The Diocesan Shrine of San Vicente Ferrer used to be a "visita" under the ecclesiastical control of the Parish of St. Polycarp. On September 1946, it was the very first "visita" in the entire Province of Laguna to have been declared a Parish by virtue of an order from Bishop Alfredo Verzosa y Florentin of the Archdiocese of Lipa. During that time, the Province of Laguna did not have its own Diocese yet and remained so until November 28, 1966 when the Diocese of San Pablo was created. On March 26, 2010, the Parish was declared as a Diocesan Shrine during the time of Bishop Leo Drona.
