St. Claire Monastery is a Registered Property, Municipality of Bolinao, Pangasinan located at Bolinao, Pangasinan, Region I.
BoIinao became the landing site of the founder of the Poor Sisters of St. Claire in the Philippines. One of the galleons that came to trade between Acapulco and Manila was the Galleon San Andres. On July 24, 1621, the Galleon San Andres docked at Port Picocobuan with nuns on board. One of them, Mother Jeronima de La Asuncion, later became the founder of the Monasterio de Sta. Clara located at Manila. Being the acknowledged leader of a group of contemplative nuns known as the Poor Clare Sisters, Mother Jeronima initiated the Seraphic Order of St. Clare of Assisi in the Philippines. Historically founded, the Quezon City Poor Clares, established a community in Bolinao, Pangasinan where Mother Jeronima first set foot on June 27, 1993 during the Octocentennial Year of the birth of St. Clare 1993-1994.
