Kuyapon (The Bathing Maiden)

Kuyapon (The Bathing Maiden) is a Registered Property, Province of Benguet located at La Trinidad, Benguet, CAR.

The Bathing Maiden – Kuyapon is situated at the stairway leading up to the main capitol building. The sculpture is in a sitting position atop a large stone surrounded by a pool of water and with a stone jar in her right side. Her right hand raised to pour water over her head using a wooden “kawil” as a dipper, her long black hair covering one breast, with the tapering fingers of her left hand modestly covering her navel. The skin too light for a Benguet woman, the nose very fine and pointed. The walls of the pool is lined horizontally with stone pebbles which also includes ornamental plants and stone jars around the area and an embossed map of the Province of Benguet as background.
