A monument dedicated to General Vicente R. Lukban, a freedom fighter, led the forces in Samar Phil-American War. He devoted his time to the cause of revolution and is the most underrated Filipino, downgraded by the press and American history because of the so called ‘Balangiga Massacre tagged by American people;
Gen. V. Lukban was the second to the last general captured by collaborated native troops and not so called surrendered acclaimed by many particularly American history;
Founder of La Cooperita Popular. Part of the profit of the cooperative was secretly remitted to the revolutionary movement of Andres Bonifacio. First in Bicol region to organize a Katipunan and to give direct assistance to their plan revolutionary movement. During Spanish time, he acted as an emissary of the Katipunan unit in Bicol to gather information about the Spanish movement in Manila and to determine how such movements affected Bicol province.
The 1902 Annual report of the war Department State that the capture of Gen. V. Lukban was the most important event after the surrender of Gen Emillio Aguinaldo in 1901.
