Ilagan Japanese Tunnel is a Registered Property, City of Ilagan, Isabela located at Ilagan City, Isabela, Region II.
The Ilagan Japanese Tunnel today. Its main feature is the Japanese War Tunnel which is about 40 meters in length and 3.66 meters in height and width. Inside the tunnel are several chambers which were used as headquarters for Japanese soldiers, storage facility for weaponry, prison for captured Filipino guerillas and repository of hidden treasure loots. Above the tunnel is the unaltered Japanese watchtower which provided a full 360 degrees commanding view of approaching troops.
The Ilagan Japanese Tunnel is a war tunnel that was part of a military base built by the Japanese government as headquarters for its soldiers during the World War II, it is one of the few remaining tunnels in the province built in the Philippines through forced labor and hardships of captive Filipinos during the Japanese occupation (1942-1945).
