On July 2, 1978 it was created into a Chaplaincy under the title of “The Visitation of Our Lady”, the feast of which is celebrated on May 30. Rev. Fr. Pepino V. Asis was assigned chaplain. On July 2, 1983, the then Bishop of Daet, Msgr. Celestino R. Enverga formally established the Parish of Blessed Lorenzo Ruiz, in honor of the Filipino Pro martyr. Rev. Fr. Jose G. Marabe, JCD was the first parish priest. Through the bills of Local Action, Republic Act No. 6708, authored by Cong. Renato M. Unico, was enacted in Congress effective February 10, 1989, changing Imelda to San Lorenzo Ruiz in honor of the patron saint, San Lorenzo de Manila, the first Filipino martyr. (Diocese of Daet)
