Puericulture Center; Escuela Pia

Puericulture Center; Escuela Pia is a Registered Property, City of San Pablo, Laguna located at San Pablo City, Cavite, Region IV-A.

The present single-storey building is made of concrete and wood.

With the adjacent lot on which the Marcos Paulino Memorial Building stands, the Puericulture Center is part of the Escuela Pia compound. Escuela Pia was the first formal school established by the Spaniards during the last quarter of the 17th century. The original building was burned when a big fire hit the city on August 8, 1938.

The San Pablo Puericulture Center was organized in 1923 by pioneering women of San Pablo led by Doña Consorcia Dichoso Ticzon and Doña Eusebia Fule Malvar. Their major concern of these women was to eradicate infant mortality and malnutrition though proper maternal and child health care.

Escuela Pia, the original building on this site was gutted by a big fire that razed the southern portion of the city proper including the public market in August 8, 1938.
