The young Dr. Jose Rizal was brought and educated in Biñan by his father Francisco Mercado who’s from Biñan. Under the instruction of well-known teacher Justiniano Aquino Cruz, he received the first sowing seeds of wisdom that served as the first stone in the monument ofhis sustained success in learning. In place of the original site of the house of Justiniano Aquino Cruz is a marker made of cement that has been established with the saying: "Rizal in Biñan". In this town of Biñan in 1871, Dr. Jose P. Rizal received his first formal schooling under Maestro Justiniano A. Cruz, who advised him to study in a higher school in Manila: "Ang Caballeros ni Rizal" (Knights of Rizal) spent on such signs. The curtain opened on December 30, 1945. It is located in Gen. Mateo Capinpin St., behind the municipal hall.
