Miguel Malvar Historical Landmark | Miguel Malvar Marker is a National Historical Landmark, NHCP; Registered Property, Province of Batangas located at Santo Tomas, Batangas, Region IV-A.

This site is a small memorial that commemorates Miguel Malvar, one of the last Filipino generals to surrender to the American forces during the Philippine-American war. Miguel Malvar joined the Katipunan in 1896, and, during the revolution, led a successful raid on the Spanish quarters in Talisay, Batangas. In January 1897 he then moved his force of 75 men (with 97 rifles) to Cavite to join up with Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo and led his troops in the battles of Tadang, Bailen, Magallanes and Alfonso. On March 31 he was promoted to lieutenant-general and was named commanding general in Batangas upon the organization of the revolutionary government. Upon the signing of the Pact of Biak-na-Bato, Malvar left with Aguinaldo and other revolutionary leader for Hong Kong and was appointed first cashier administrator of the revolution's funds. Upon the onset of the Philippine-American war, Malvar led his armies in battles of San Pedro Tunasan, Calamba and Cabuyao in Laguna.

A memorial to General Miguel Malvar, the last Filipino general to surrender to the Americans. With his band of soldiers her marched to the headquarters of General Franklin Bell and surrendered on April 16, 1902. A pictorial exhibit on the Filipino-American War (1898-1902) and oil paintings that were entries to the Malvar Birth Centenary painting contest are on display.

Miguel Malvar
1865–1911

Isinilang sa baryo ng San Miguel, Santo Tomas, Batangas, noong Setyembre 27, 1865 sa mag-asawang Maximo Malvar at Tiburcia Carpio. Unang nag-aral sa paaralan ni Padre Valerio Malabanan. Naging Gobernadorsilyo ng Sto. Tomas noong 1892. Isa sa kauna-unahang sumapi sa Himagsikang Filipino laban sa mga Kastila noong 1896. Kahuli-hulihang Pilipinong Heneral na sumuko sa mga Amerikano noong Abril 18, 1902. Namatay noong Oktubre 13, 1911.
