Marcela Agoncillo Historical Landmark | Marcela Mariño Agoncillo 1859 - 1946 Marker is a National Historical Landmark, NHCP; Registered Property, Province of Batangas located at Taal, Batangas, Region IV-A.

This is the birthplace of Doña Marcela Mariño de Agoncillo, maker of the first Philippine Flag. The house contains memorabilia and the evolution of the Philippine Flag.

The house is one of Taal’s oldest, built in the late 17th century by Marcela’s grandfather Andres Mariño. It was in this house that the first Philippine flag was sewn by hand by Marcella Agoncillo. With the heirs donating the property to the national government, it is presently being maintained by the Department of Tourism.

Marcela Mariño de Agoncillo 1859–1946

Ipinanganak sa Taal 24 Hunyo 1859; nag-aral sa Kolehiyo ng Santa Catalina; asawa ni Felipe Agoncillo at siya niyang matapat na katulong sa kanyang gawaing makabayan; ipinagbili ang kanyang mga hiyas upang magugol ng asawa sa misyon nito sa ibang bansa sa kapakanan ng pagsasarili ng Pilipinas. Sa panahon ng kanilang pagkapatapon sa Hong Kong, ay tinahi niya ang unang bandilang Pilipino na buong pagmamalaking iwinagayway ni Heneral Emelio Aguinaldo sa Kawit noong 12 Hunyo 1898 sa pagpapahayag ng Pagsasarili ng Pilipinas. Namatay sa Taal 30 Mayo 1946.
