Aol Shanghai
AOL, the American online services provider, has had a complex history with the Chinese market. In 2001, AOL partnered with Lenovo to launch a Chinese-language portal, FM365.com, but the venture was unsuccessful and ceased operations in 2004. In 2006, AOL re-entered the Chinese market by broadcasting news programs supplied by Shanghai Media Group's broadband unit on its Chinese-language website. However, in 2009, AOL closed its China operations, laying off approximately 100 employees in its Beijing office. As of April 2025, there is no publicly available information indicating that AOL has a current presence in Shanghai, China.
