Edit Profile
ABESAMIS OPTICAL CLINIC, INC. was established by the late DR. TOMAS G. ABESAMIS on March 1927 after graduating from CENTRAL INSTITUTE of OPTOMETRY located at what is now Quintin Paredes Street, Binondo, Manila. Central Institute of Optometry, manned and operated by American optometrists and opticians, was one of the pioneering schools that offered Optometry course in the Philippines. Assisted by his wife Mrs. Natividad L. Abesamis, they set up their first clinic at P. Gomez Street, present site of SM Carriedo, Manila. From there they move to Rizal Avenue, Manila where they operated one of the first complete optical laboratories in the Philippines. From this humble beginning, Dr. Abesamis was able to establish ABESAMIS OPTICAL as one of the pioneers in Philippine Optical Industry. He served as Member of the Board of Optometry from 1962 to 1968, and as Chairman from 1969 to 1972. He resigned his post after the declaration of Martial Law by President Ferdinand Marcos. At present, there are 3 optical clinics located at P. Paterno Street, the optical capital of the Philippines, one in SM Mall of Asia and many more branches spread across the Philippines.
