PBE is a non-profit organization established in 1992 by business leaders to assist Philippine business to address its environmental issues and concerns. PBE is committed to the principle of sustainable development. It believes that the business community has a corporate responsibility to protect the environment, and to ensure sustainability of resources on which it depends.
PBE has a membership base of 59, of which approximately 37% are from the service sector, 30 % from manufacturing sector, 17% from the energy sector, 7% from the Conglomerates, 3% from Mining sector, 6% from Wood producer, agriculture and real estate sector.
PBE fulfils its mission by spreading knowledge and best practices across businesses, creating synergies between the efforts of companies; and linking business with communities, local governments and other stakeholders to achieve mutual environmental goals.
PBE maintains links with 85 industry associations nationwide (including some of the largest SME networks) under the Philippine Business Agenda 21, a UNDP assisted project managed by PBE.
